As an adult Gerie studied at the Maryland College of Art and Design which opened a new world of color, design, drawing and painting. This has given her a rewarding career of artist and art instructor. For the past 10 years, Gerie has taught youngsters from ages 4-12 the creative world of art.  While teaching, she explored her own art direction growing from an acrylic artist into a linocut print maker, incorporating many mixed media formats.

She has developed a realistic painting style with a contemporary edge. Her work is inspired from the many life travels including teaching in Israel and lecturing in Africa.   For the last six years, Gerie has called Las Cruces, New Mexico her hometown. Instead of painting the southwest from afar, she decided to live within it. Inspiration for western landscapes now comes from her backyard.  She now combines original linocuts with acrylic painting and other forms of mixed media. Her present interest is in creating funky hanging mobiles using recycled metals and materials.

Gerie continues her passion of teaching art as an enrichment program at various schools and the local contemporary art museum. One of her goals is to bring the love of art to underprivileged children across the world.
